Hair loss

hair loss smallMost people usually lose 50-100 hair a day. This does not cause obvious hair thinning of the scalp because new follicles begin to grow simultaneously.

Hair loss occurs when this hair growth cycle is disturbed.
The exact cause of hair loss is usually associated with one or more of the following factors:

  • Hereditary
  • Hormonal Changes and Diseases
  • Pharmacological Therapy and Radiotherapy

Hereditary

The most common cause of hair loss is hereditary and is called androgenetic alopecia and occurs in both sexes. Hair loss is usually done gradually.

Inheritance also affects the age at which you begin to lose your hair, the rate of hair loss and the extent of your baldness. The most common hereditary baldness in men can be triggered by puberty.

Hormonal Changes and Diseases

  • Hormonal changes: hormonal changes may cause temporary hair loss. This may be due to pregnancy, delivery or beginning of menopause. Thyroid diseases can also cause hair loss.
  • Alopecia areata: it causes immune system disorders and causes sudden hair loss that leaves round scalp losses.
  • Infections of the scalp: Infections can invade hair and scalp skin, and lead to hair loss. Once the infections are treated, the hair grows again.
  • Cicatric Alopecia: It is usually unknown etiology and progresses gradually. Including some types of lupus and sarcoidosis.
  • Tricotillomania: this situation causes people to have an irresistible desire to pull hair from the scalp, eyebrows or other parts of the body. It is mainly related to psychological causes.
  • Depression and other causes: Many people suffer from general hair thinning after a physical or emotional shock. This type of hair loss is temporary. Other causes of hair loss are sudden and excessive weight loss, high fever, surgery or a deceased person's death.

Pharmacological Therapy and Radiotherapy

Hair loss can be caused by drugs used for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, high blood pressure, and birth control. Excessive intake of vitamin A can also cause hair loss.

Radiotherapy may in some cases cause alopecia.

Over-haired hairstyles or hairstyles that hair on, like horse tail can cause alopecia.

Hair treatments with hot oil and permanaut can cause inflammation of hair follicles and lead to hair loss. If you experience hair loss even scars may be permanent.
